Tableau Software delivers fast analytics, visualization, rapid-fire business intelligence and is growing at a rapid pace. The Tableau Conference is no exception. There were over 10,000 attendees this year at Tableau Conference, (TC-2015 or #Data15) and that was up 5000 attendees from last year.
It’s a big event with:
- On Demand Sessions
- Hands On Training
- Tableau Doctor
- Expo Hall
I would like to share some of the many new features that Tableau introduced during TC-15. Some of the features are available with Tableau 9.2 which is in beta and some of the features will be available in 2016.

A Business Intelligence Platform is expected to evolve through user adoption as BI consumers incorporate Business Intelligence into their daily roles. Ultimately, Business Intelligence has to drive effective business activity, gain business insight or achieve competitive advantage. A true catalyst to user adoption is actionable and quantifiable BI which demonstrates Return on Investment or Cost Savings. Achieving this kind of outcome is something I deeply believe in and have seen countless times in my 25+ year career as a practitioner.

OK, so you’ve invested, or at least thinking about investing in a powerful BI Platform with many features and functionality, many supported usage scenarios. “If you build it, they will come” applies here, Tableau Dashboards and Views are easy to create and actually fun to use, user adoption is almost guaranteed. User adoption will increase demand for more Views and Dashboards, more data requirements, more measures, more systems. Realization sets in for the Business Intelligence Team, as a few well received BI Applications evolves to a cross-functional then holistic view of the organization. The realities of the need for BI Standardization hits hard.
