PeopleSoft Security – The Importance of Secure Passwords

Even if your system is not internet facing you can still be vulnerable from internal threats. Requiring users to create strong passwords in PeopleSoft is one of the easiest ways to increase your overall PeopleSoft security.

Implementing secure passwords in PeopleSoft is as important as ever. Even if your system is not internet facing you can still be vulnerable from internal threats. Requiring users to create strong passwords in PeopleSoft is one of the easiest ways to increase your overall PeopleSoft security.

PeopleSoft has many options to ensure that users will be required to create strong passwords. A few tips in creating a strong password include:

  • At least eight characters long – the longer the better.
  • Passwords should contain numbers, special characters, and capital letters.
  • Passwords should expire within 60 days and be required to use different passwords.

As you can see from the image below PeopleSoft can enable these options and more to ensure users are required to use strong passwords.

Password complexity should also extend to all system and server accounts. All default system PeopleSoft usernames should be changed. When possible the username should also be changed to ensure the highest level of security.

TriCore can analyze your PeopleSoft instances and make recommendations based on the best policies and practices to help ensure your data stays where it belongs.  We also have expertise in configuring Single Sign On and LDAP integration.
